The Octa, a collection of mechanical wristwatch chronometers with automatic winding and a record breaking 120-hour power reserve was launched in 2001. Joining the collection in 2011 is the Octa UTC, powered by the magnificent 1300.3 calibre movement. On top of this is the innovative patented system that uses Universal Time Coordinated, the modern standard of determining time zones in full hours based on international atomic time. This system mechanically indicates the different time zones and seasonal time differences with reference to the Earth’s rotation, making it less variable than the previously utilized GMT.

Seen on the salmon-colored dial are the indications for the impressively long power reserve as well as the date. An off-centered guilloché subdial illustrates local time via blued steel hands, while a gilt steel hand indicates home time in 24-hour format. Also seen on the dial is a laser engraved and hand painted world map on a sapphire disc that illustrates the earth’s 24 time zones, a bright and brilliant feature for F.P. Journe.
